American actor Harold Ramis once said, “Chicago still remains a Mecca of the Midwest— people from both coasts are kind of amazed how good life is in Chicago, and what a good culture we`ve got. You can have a pretty wonderful artistic life and never leave Chicago.”

Ramis’s words summarize a great deal of Chicago’s reputation as an underdog city.  While Chicago is infamous for its unfortunate tragedies, the city also maintains a rich timeline of historical events and cultural milestones.

From musical evolutions across Chicago’s glittering jazz scene to inspiring moments in sports history, the world wouldn’t be quite the same without the enduring efforts of the Windy City’s hometown heroes.
